About Dan

Dan Sweeney has more than 20 years of experience working with California family law litigants as a private attorney, a court staff attorney, and as manager of the San Diego Superior Court’s Family Law Facilitator’s Office. These varied roles have provided a unique perspective on the challenges that face self-represented litigants in family law cases.
Approximately 80% of California family law litigants handle their cases without a traditional, full-service attorney. That means the vast majority of litigants are left to navigate unfamiliar rules, rigid procedures, and confusing forms on their own. Given the high stakes that family law usually carries, this can be overwhelming.
During Dan’s time at the Family Law Facilitator’s Office, he worked with thousands of self-represented litigants and developed an understanding of where common struggles lie, what kind of help is most beneficial, and how professional guidance at the right moment can make a meaningful difference.
That understanding is the foundation of Dan’s practice. He’s designed his office as a practical, affordable alternative to traditional full-service representation. His video conference sessions are both information and action-oriented.
Dan earned his law degree from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law and began his career in Florida before relocating to San Diego. After more than a decade in private practice, he joined the San Diego Superior Court’s Family Law Facilitator’s Office where he worked for more than seven years as staff attorney, lead attorney and ultimately program manager, responsible for all county operations and services to the public.
Dan enjoys assisting clients with their cases and empowering them to take action to improve their lives and the lives of their families. Dan’s bar number is 226377 with the State Bar of California.
